I Abandoned the Grandparents Who Raised Me

“My parents?” “They’re gone.”

“My family?” “They passed away.”

Each lie felt wrong… but easier than the truth.

I reinvented myself.

New clothes. New voice. New identity.

And slowly… I erased them.

Martha still called every week.

“Come visit us, sweetheart.”

“I’m busy,” I’d say.

Always busy.
