Didn’t look away from the page.
“What does it say?” someone asked, their voice thinner than they intended.
The boy swallowed.
“It’s a transfer,” he said. “Authorization. Signed.”
The man took a step forward. “That’s enough.”
But the boy kept going.
“It moves everything,” he continued. “Ownership. Liability. Names.” His voice slowed, like each word was getting heavier. “It moves it off the record… onto someone who didn’t even know.”
A murmur rippled through the room.
“That’s not possible,” another voice said.
The woman’s expression didn’t change. “It is if no one ever sees the document.”
