I nodded, then carried my coffee to the back porch.
Joshua joined me a minute later.
« Dad would want me to take care of you. »
Joshua was my fiancé, though Dad had long treated him like family. He handed me Dad’s old tape measure from the porch project.
Dad and Joshua had liked each other from the start.
They repaired things together and shared the same joke whenever one made a mistake.
