Tweets about Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged ‘client list’ made by Vice President JD Vance during the Biden administration have come back to haunt him after Donald Trump’s Department of Justice and FBI announced no such list existed.
The revelation made earlier this week comes after Trump himself promised during his 2024 presidential campaign to release files related to Epstein, who died by suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.
A collection of files were released onto the Justice Department website in February, but there were still rumors circulating about a list of Epstein’s clients and exactly who might be on it.
Vance has previously made clear he believed more information about Epstein existed, evidenced by a tweet he shared during the Biden administration.
At the time, Vance appeared to imply that the Democrat-led government had some sort of personal link to the information, as he wrote: « What possible interest would the US government have in keeping Epstein’s clients secret? Oh… »In another tweet shared in September 2021, Vance wrote: « Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don’t talk about it. »
Now, however, a two-page Department of Justice and FBI memo said that investigators found no ‘incriminating list’.
The announcement sparked backlash, but Vance now appears to have changed his tune by accepting this conclusion and defending the president’s handling of the case.
While speaking with podcaster Theo Von, Vance said: « Donald Trump didn’t do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein. »
« Whatever the Democrats and the media say about him, that’s totally BS. I’m the Vice President to President Trump, my loyalties are always going to be with the president. »As well all know, however, things on the internet rarely stay hidden, and it didn’t take long for social media users to dig out Vance’s old comments which appeared confident in the existence of Epstein’s client list.
