They both hurried downstairs.
In the center of the living room, Emily knelt on the floor gathering pieces of shattered crystal. A thin line of blood ran down her finger where one of the shards had cut her.
Standing over her was a tall brunette woman dressed in a sleek designer outfit.
“That glass was imported crystal,” the woman snapped coldly. “It cost more than your yearly salary.”
Emily kept her eyes lowered.
“I’m very sorry. It slipped from my hand.”
“People like you shouldn’t be trusted with valuable things,” the woman replied sharply.
