I married a wealthy old man to save my family—but on our wedding night, he didn’t touch me. He simply sat in the dark and said, “Just sleep. I want to watch.” The way he said it made my skin prickle… and by morning, I understood this marriage was never about money.

A long silence.

Then he admitted, “Yes.”

“Of who?”

He didn’t look at me.

Little by little, the truth began to peel open. He told me his first wife had died in her sleep. The doctors said heart failure. But he believed something else had been happening.

“She would wake at night,” he said, “eyes open, but not really there… like someone else was driving her.”

I got goosebumps.
