Across the arrivals area, under a glowing airline sign and surrounded by travelers hauling bags and embracing loved ones, stood my husband, Daniel. His arm circled his secretary, Melissa, with a familiarity that didn’t belong to confusion. She leaned into him, smiling as if she fully belonged there. Then Daniel lifted his gaze and saw me.
