I discovered some strange marks on my car… and I was surprised to learn what caused them

  1. Wash the car thoroughly.
I started with a regular car shampoo to remove surface dirt.

  2. Use an automotive clay bar.
A clay bar is amazing for lifting contaminants stuck to your paint. I used it gently with clay lubricant, and it instantly made the surface smoother.

  3. Apply a light polish.
For any dull or etched areas, I used a mild polishing compound and microfiber pad. This helped even out the finish and restore the shine.

  4. Finish with wax or sealant.
A protective layer of wax keeps new sap and debris from bonding as easily.

Within a couple of hours, my car looked like new again.

How to Prevent It

If you’ve ever discovered strange marks like mine, here’s how to avoid them in the future:

  • Avoid parking directly under trees, especially in hot weather.

  • Wash your car regularly, at least every two weeks.

  • Use a spray wax or paint sealant for extra protection.

  • Clean sap or bird droppings immediately—even a damp wipe can make a big difference.
