She later died at the school from what authorities described as a self-inflicted injury.
A GoFundMe campaign organized by Krysta Hunt, who identified herself as Edmonds’ cousin, says Maya is currently in critical care.
“My name is Krysta, and I am the Cousin of Cia, Mayas mother,” Hunt wrote on the page. “I am starting this go fund me to provide relief for Cia and Maya during this devastating time.”

“Recovery timeline is unknown. All we know is that Maya made it through transport from Tumbler Ridge to Vancouver Children’s Hospital and currently in critical care,” Hunt continued.
The page also states, “This support will provide support for Maya through her recovery. And allow for Cia to be by her side without financial concern.”

As of Wednesday afternoon, the fundraiser had raised over $51,000 toward an $80,000 goal, with 539 donations.
An investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
