The Gate Knew My Name Before She Did

At exactly 8:41 a.m., Eleanor marched toward the security keypad.

The gate didn’t open.

She frowned.

Tried again.

Nothing.

The guard stepped forward politely.

« Good morning, ma’am. »

Eleanor smiled the smile wealthy people use when they assume obstacles are employees waiting for instructions.

« I’m Eleanor Drexler. »

The guard nodded.
