The woman turned toward me without the slightest hint of embarrassment.
« I simply said what everyone else was thinking. »
« No, » I said evenly. « You said something cruel to a child. »
She shrugged.
« If parents won’t be honest with their children, somebody has to be. »
The man sitting by the window looked uncomfortable.
« I’m sure she’s fine, » he muttered.
The woman ignored him.
