THE DAY SHE WALKED DOWN THE AISLE FOR HERSELF

“Morning,” she said softly.

“Morning, sweetheart.”

There was a pause.

The kind that holds everything that’s been said… and everything that hasn’t.

“I didn’t sleep much,” her daughter admitted.

“Big day,” she replied gently.

Her daughter shook her head. “No… I kept thinking about everything I said. About how I almost made this… smaller for you.”

She stepped closer.

“I’m sorry, Mom. I think… I think I was scared.”

“Of what?”
