The Night He Locked Me Out

Then begged.

No answer.

The lights remained on inside.

The television flickered through the curtains.

Life continued for him.

While I sat outside shivering.

Eventually, I curled up on the porch, wrapping my arms around myself.

The humiliation hurt more than the cold.

This wasn’t our first fight.

But it was the first time I truly understood how little Michael cared.
