“Is it permanent?” Vanessa asked again, pointing toward the wall.
I looked over my shoulder at thirty-five feet of railroad ties, steel anchors, drainage pipe, and twenty years of settled earth.
“Unless gravity changes its mind,” I said, “yeah.”
She smiled politely.
