The voice was small. Thin. Unsteady.
So quiet it felt like it might disappear at any moment.
“Ma’am… my mom and dad won’t wake up… and the house smells weird.”
The operator straightened in her chair.

“Sofia,” the girl whispered. “I’m seven.”
