I Pulled Over a Man for Speeding – This Wasn’t Something They Train You For

“Emily.”

“What’s going on with her?”

“I don’t know exactly.” He finally looked at me, and I saw it then. Pure panic.

Not anger.

Not performance. Panic. “She was in labor.

They said there were complications.

They said I need to come now.”

He dragged a hand over his face, obviously stressing and tired. “I was on a delivery route.

I missed the first two calls because my phone was in the cup holder and I couldn’t hear it over the road. When I called back, the nurse said, ‘Where are you?

She keeps asking for you.’”
