According to the BBC, Routh’s behaviour during his trial was increasingly erratic, which included challenging Trump to a game of golf despite having attempted to kill him, as well as making multiple references to Adolf Hitler and Russia’s Vladimir Putin. He also repeatedly went off on baffling tangents and spoke in the third person while touching on a wide variety of unrelated topics, including US history, the Russia-Ukraine war and his intention to buy a boat.
During the trial, it was also revealed that Routh was not believed to have had a clear line of sight to Trump at any point during the incident; however, Secret Service agents did recover a semiautomatic rifle with a scope and an extended magazine near where he had been hiding, shortly after his arrest.
He will now face the rest of his life behind bars.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has made a bombshell request to the president after his sentencing.
The disgraced music mogul was arrested at a hotel in New York last September on charges of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, racketeering conspiracy and more.
However, in his high-profile court hearing, which saw dozens of famous faces take to the stand to testify, including his former partner Cassie Ventura, Combs was found guilty of a lesser charge.
The 55-year-old was sentenced to 50 months behind bars, more than four years, on October 3 after a jury found him guilty of two counts of transportation for engagement in prostitution, a violation of the Mann Act.
He was also slapped with a hefty $50,000 fine, the maximum penalty the judge could impose. Now, Combs has allegedly approached President Donald Trump with a bombshell request for a pardon.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, the POTUS said: « A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy; he has asked me for a pardon. »
His appeal for a presidential pardon comes as his defence urged the New York judge to consider a sentence of no more than 14 months, stating he has already suffered during his 13-month-long stint behind bars.
