He blinked. Then frowned.
“Uh… Grandma, I think something’s wrong.”
“There’s no mistake,” I said gently. “My savings aren’t what they used to be.”
Christy pulled out the bill.
“It’s $50… that’s thoughtful.”
Carl cleared his throat. “Times are hard for everyone.”
Then he checked his watch again.
That told me everything.
Mike nodded and pocketed it. “Thanks, Grandma.”
Julian turned hers over quietly.
