Its curtains were yellow with age. Dust covered the furniture. Several clocks remained on the walls, all stopped at different times.
And according to the neighbors, the previous owner had left suddenly one winter evening and never returned.
So when the new owners began renovating the property, they expected old newspapers, forgotten coins, perhaps a few family photographs.
Instead, they found a small metal box hidden beneath a loose floorboard.
