Then he folded his hands together across the table.

“Next month, CloudAxis begins its public offering, assuming our angel investors approve everything during the two o’clock meeting. My attorneys and public relations consultants all agree that entering the IPO as a single man creates a much stronger image.”

I studied his face carefully.

“So after two years of marriage, I’m just a liability affecting your stock price?”

Nathan did not hesitate.

“That’s business.”

He tapped the prenuptial agreement with one finger.

“You signed this. Legally, you leave with nothing. Still, I’m choosing to be generous.”

He pulled the black credit card from his wallet and flicked it across the polished table. It slid smoothly until it stopped directly in front of me.

“There’s enough money on that card for you to disappear somewhere cheap. I’ll even let you keep the old Honda.”
