“No,” he said. “You didn’t think. You calculated.”
The assistant returned, phone in hand. “Mercer’s on the line.”
Victor took it. “Confirm the transfers from the Holloway Family Trust to account 7719‑A.”
A pause. Then Mercer’s voice, crisp and certain: “Confirmed, sir. The account belongs to Holloway Holdings, managed by Elaine Holloway. Funds were withdrawn monthly by Adrian Holloway.”
Victor’s eyes closed for one long second. When they opened, they were colder than the rain outside.
“Freeze all accounts,” he said. “Effective immediately.”
Elaine gasped. “Victor—”
“Every property, every vehicle, every card. I want them locked before midnight.”
Adrian’s voice rose. “You can’t—”
“I can,” Victor said. “And I will.”
